NEW YORK, NY.- The 20th Century Decorative Arts auction at Bonhams New York resulted in over $1.1 million in total sales.

The auction was led by a strong group of leaded glass lamps produced by Tiffany Studios in the early years of the 20th Century. Highlights of the afternoon included:

• A Tiffany Floral Bouquet chandelier, 1899-1918, which realized $197,000 almost twice its high estimate;

• An exquisite Tiffany Studios Favrile glass and patinated bronze Tulip table lamp, 1899-1918, which realized $112,500, over its high estimate;

• A Tiffany Studios decorated Favrile glass and patinated bronze three light table lamp, 1899-1918, fetched $20,000, over the high estimate;

• Mirrorized Clear Contour with Blue, Amber and Black, 1996-1998 by Tom Patti made from industrialized glass, which realized $27,500, above the high estimate;

• A 14k gold mounted Thomas Webb & Sons cameo glass perfume flask, circa 1900, which achieved $21,250, over 10 times its high estimate; and

• A marquetry inlaid mahogany corner washroom that was created by Rene Prou for a Sleeping Compartment aboard the Simplon Orient Express, circa 1927, which sold for $18,750, well past its high estimate.

Frank Maraschiello, director of the 20th Century Decorative Arts department, commented, “The resounding success of the Tiffany section of our sale once again demonstrates the strength in that collection area and the market’s hunger for fresh, new material.”

The next 20th Century Decorative arts sale will be held in June 2015.
