ASPEN, CO.- RambleOnProjects in collaboration with Gallery 1949 announces the exhibition Zero in Aspen, which highlights works by the experimental German artists’ group Zero (1957-66) and the larger pool of international artists that shared their concerns. Zero in Aspen includes works by the core members of Group Zero: Heinz Mack, Otto Piene, and Günther Uecker, as well as a selection of likeminded Zero artists hailing from diverse cultural centers. The exhibition also includes work by Pol Bury, Lucio Fontana, Enrico Castellani, Christian Megert, and Turi Simeti.

Initially influenced by the work of Italian Spatialist pioneer Lucio Fontana, the Zero group developed a vernacular of Minimalism and the use of monochrome, as well as a keen interest in the introduction of new and unexpected utilitarian materials, including nails, ash and cork. Zero artists explored themes of light and space and the potential to create the impression of virtual movement in their work. This exhibition will address many facets of the Zero group's visual language and their extraordinary physical transformation of the painting surface.

RambleOnProjects is a creative collaboration between Caroline Schmidt-Barnett and Andrea Crane designed to present exhibitions in alternative geographic locations. Together with over four decades of combined experience at auctions houses and major galleries, Schmidt-Barnett and Crane bring extensive knowledge and art world expertise to their work. They are both currently private dealers and consultants in New York.

“The exclusiveness of a completely nonrepresentational, dynamic pictorial structure, light years apart from nature, will be redeemed in a pure emotion. It will unveil a new reality, whose secret beauty we now only suspect.” -Heinz Mack, “The New Dynamic Structure”, in: ZERO 1, Düsseldorf 1958
