Online luxury marketplace 1stdibs launches first ever mobile app
Smartphone traffic to 1stdibs has grown almost 130% in the past year.

NEW YORK, NY.- 1stdibs, the world's largest online luxury marketplace, announces the launch of the company's first-ever mobile app, now available in the iTunes app store. The new app allows users to browse and shop the treasures of over 2,000 of the world's best dealers specialising in design, fine art, and collectibles anywhere, anytime.

Smartphone traffic to 1stdibs has grown almost 130% in the past year, with the majority generated by iPhone users. 1stdibs' Chief Product Officer, Xiaodi Zhang states, "iPhone users are one of the fastest growing audiences on 1stdibs, making it critical for us to develop an optimised, native experience" on iOS. The new app allows users to search and browse for items, message dealers, negotiate prices, and make purchases directly from their mobile device.

Specific features were also created to highlight the sense of discovery and delight that is unique to 1stdibs. Zhang says that "we're trying to recreate that feeling of serendipitous discovery you have when you stumble upon a rare find in your favourite antique store or art gallery." To accomplish this, the design team created a DISCOVER feature, a new way to quickly browse curated collections. "It's almost game-like," states Zhang "every swipe of the screen generates a new item to explore." In addition, the location-based SHOP NEARBY feature allows buyers to find the 1stdibs dealers closest to them, and provides contact and location information. With 1stdibs dealers in over 350 cities around the world, the app is the perfect tool for finding the trustworthy stores and galleries wherever a shopper's travels may take them.

1stdibs is the world's leading online marketplace for rare and desirable objects. Founded in 2001 to bring the Paris Flea Market online, today the website is the go-to source for those who share a passion for the most beautiful things on earth. By bringing together more than 2,000 of the best professional dealers in antiques, 20th century design, fine jewellery and watches, vintage fashion and fine art, 1stdibs offers an exclusive inventory that is not available anywhere else online.
