LONDON.- Marlborough Fine Art London will be participating in this year’s ArtBasel Hong Kong (Stand 3E14) from 15 – 17 March 2015. At the centre of the stand will be Andy Warhol’s impressive Double Hamburger, 1985-86. This monumental work (295cm x 615cm) embodies the iconic and timeless style instantly associated with the artist.

Marlborough Fine Art is also proud to exhibit works by artists such as Paula Rego, whom the gallery has represented since 1987, and Frank Auerbach, ahead of his major survey exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Bonn this June, which will tour to Tate Britain in October 2015. The gallery has a longstanding relationship with the artist, having represented him since 1958.

The stand will also include works from Modern and Contemporary masters such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró and Alexander Calder. On display will also be works by Zao Wou-ki, Chu Teh Chun and Chen Yifei, Chinese artists that are associated with the gallery.

Marlborough Fine Art London has been engaged with China for many years. It was one of the first galleries to show contemporary Chinese art in Europe, and in 1953 the gallery opened a show in London entitled Chinese Paintings by Professor Chao Shao-An and his pupil Lydia Chao Ling-Fang. This began a lasting connection between the gallery and the art of China, and in 1993 the gallery opened the pioneering New Art from China: Post 1989, which showcased the work of 22 Chinese artists. This was the first time that artists such as Fang Lijun and Zeng Fanzhi were shown in Europe. In 1995 Chen Yifei (1946 – 2005), one of China’s most admired artists, joined the gallery, which was responsible for the staging of The Homecoming of Chen Yifei retrospective exhibition. This show toured from the Shanghai Museum in 1996 to the China National Museum of Fine Arts, Beijing in 1997. Marlborough Fine Art also went on to organise Yifei’s XLVII Venice Biennale exhibition in 1997.
