NEW YORK, NY.- The Guggenheim app has been distinguished as Best in Class in the museum category by the Interactive Media Council, Inc. (IMC), a nonprofit organization of web professionals dedicated to the recognition of web-related achievement.
The IMC created the Interactive Media Awards to honor exceptional accomplishments in website design and development. The international competition acknowledges and elevates standards of Internet excellence by providing leading organizations with endorsements that further their success.
The Guggenheim app is free and available for both iOS and Android devices. Featuring information on more than 1,500 works in the Collection Online as well as video and audio related to select exhibitions, the app helps art lovers engage with dynamic content at the museum and at home. It features videos that provide users with unique opportunities to experience works that have been presented at the museum, such as various kinetic artworks included in the recent exhibition ZERO: Countdown to Tomorrow, 1950s60s. The app also contains guides to the collection and the Frank Lloyd Wright building in five languages, as well as Verbal Description guides for visitors who are blind or have low vision and guides designed especially for children.
Regularly recognized for its excellence, the app was nominated in 2014 by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences for a Webby Award in the Mobile & Apps: Best Visual Design-Function category and was named an honoree in the Mobile & Apps: Education & Reference category. The apps recognitions continue the museums successes in its digital efforts.
