BLOOMFIELD NJ.- Nye and Company is pleased to announce that its April auction, which consists primarily of 20th century decorative arts, comprised of Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Modern furniture, lighting and table-top articles, is now open for bidding through April 28th on www.iGavelauctions.com. Of the 600 lots, the 20th century works comprise the bulk of the auction with intentionally conservative estimates and reserves even lower than normal.

Says John Nye: “This is this is a rare opportunity to acquire fine examples of sought after 20th century design at very attainable prices.”

Among the 20th century highlights are:

• A Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Chan etched bronze circular coffee table (Est: $10,000-15,000)

• Pablo Picasso,"La Danse", Glazed Ceramic Platter, Spanish (Est: $10,000-15,000)

• Tobia Scarpa’s Patinated Bronze Lily-Pad Floor Lamp (Est: $1500-2500)

• A White-Painted Bent Metal Horse-Form Bar Cart, by Frederick Weinberg (Est: $800-1200)

• An AJ Royal Pendant lamp by Arne Jacobsen for Louis Poulsen (Est: $500-700) Vladimir Kagan’s Plaid-Upholstered Walnut Rocking Chair and Ottoman (Est: $400-600)

Biedermeier furniture is also among the lots. One of the most interesting examples of this style is an architectonic fall-front secretary with elaborately inlaid interior with a secret compartmentalized temple cornice. Also available is a dining table and a set of four upholstered chairs.

There are numerous examples of chic lighting including bronze chandeliers and exotic table lamps, as well as desk sets, Rosenthal porcelain dinner services, pairs of wall sconces, mirrors, silver-plate, German redware, and so much more.

20th century paintings and watercolors are also represented including The work on artist board by Antonio Jacobsen depicting the sailing steamer, “Sandy Hook,” motoring to the left and bears the signature and date of 1917 in the lower right.

The jewelry component of the auction consists of some remarkable pieces, including: a Patek Philippe Men’s Gold Calatrava Watch and a Tiffany & Co. Diamond, Emerald and Yellow Gold Antelope-Form Brooch, attributed to Donald Clafflin. There are other figural brooches, as well, such as the Cellino Dragon and the others in the form of a rose, duck and geometric. Other watches are from Baum & Mercier and Jaeger Le Coultre.

The Nye and Company galleries, located at 20 Beach Street in Bloomfield, N.J., are open for viewing every day until the auction closes, with the exception of Saturday, April 25th, from noon to 4pm. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the exhibition. Condition reports and additional photographs are available to people unable to make it to Bloomfield.
