GREENWICH, CONN.- On Saturday, June 6, the Bruce Museum held its 28th annual Renaissance Ball, Highland Fling, at Century Country Club in Purchase, NY. The Museum’s largest fundraiser, this year’s event honored Leora and Steven Levy for their exemplary and long-standing support. Event co-chairs were Patricia Chadwick and Kathy Georgas.

Taking the oldest of the traditional dances of Scotland as its inspiration, the theme of this year’s Renaissance Ball was also a nod to the heritage of the Museum’s founder Robert Moffat Bruce. With the creative vision of Décor Chairs Carolyn Dempsey of Carolyn Dempsey Design and Linda Ruderman of Linda Ruderman Interiors, guests were transported to the land of kilts, tartan and bagpipes for the evening.

“We are excited about the Highland Fling theme” says Jen Bernstein, special events manager at the Bruce Museum. “We’re so fortunate that our event chairs generated creative and original ideas. The Renaissance Ball is our largest event of the year, so it’s important to keep it fresh and fun, so guests come back every year in support of the Bruce.”

Featured at this year’s event were a live auction with items such as a Bulgari necklace, trips to St. Barts, Skibo Castle and a journey for two on board the Belmond Royal Scotsman. The Museum also included a small selection of art in this year’s silent auction. Some of the featured artists include: Diane Burko, Joe Fig, Richard Haas, Horst P. Horst and Joel Shapiro. As is the Museum’s tradition at the Renaissance Ball, immediately following the live auction there was an open paddle raise, donations to which are fully tax deductible. The Museum had C. Hugh Hildesley of Sotheby’s heading the live auction and paddle raise again this year. Entertainment was provided by Hank Lane Music.
