NEW YORK, NY.- Spink USA office’s Summer 2015 “The Collector’s Series” sale takes place at the New York offices on July 15-16, 2015.

The sale comprises 1052 lots with United States stamps with back-of-the-book issues and collections occupying the first day for a total of 542 lots.

Unusually the sale commences with a couple of autographs, the more important one being that of Charles A. Lindbergh, the world famous aviator on the back of a menu for a dinner held in his honour by The Association of American Correspondents in London at the Savoy hotel on May 30th, 1927 (shortly after the famous flight). It follows with the usual array of choice United States singles, multiples and condition rarities. Highlights include an 1860 90c Washington with original gum and lightly hinged, three examples of the 1869 3c Locomotive re-issue, of which a total of 1,406 only were sold, all three with certificates. Other 1869 re-issues include mint and used examples of the 90c. Lincoln. Nineteenth century rarities continue with the Columbian issue 4c. error of colour used, being a far scarcer stamp than its mint counterparts, followed by a never hinged $2.00 Trans-Mississippi.

An excellent grouping of Twentieth century follows, replete with the 1930 Graf Zeppelin set in plate no. blocks of six, all never hinged. Back-of-the-book issues continue with an excellent range of Hunting Permit stamps, many in plate no. block format, Ryukyu Islands rarities and some original artwork for a handful of United Nations stamps. The United States section of the sale concludes with 51 lots of collections and large lots.

The second day of the sale comprises British Commonwealth and foreign stamps with an important Canada section of 137 lots. Non-Canadian highlights include a China 1962 $3 Mei Lan-fang souvenir sheet in premium never hinged condition and the 1967 8f Thoughts of Mao Tse-tung strips of five, also never hinged, a Great Britain 1882 £5 Orange mint, also in premium condition, together with a V. R. 1d Black, the unissued official, both with newly acquired certificates. Icelandic overprint rarities and four New Britain G.R.I. rarities round out the session and includes the 1914 5/- on 5M German New Guinea, first setting surcharge, of which a mere 30-35 exist of both spacings.

The sale concludes with one of the largest groups of worldwide collections and large lots Spink has offered in the recent past, comprising 167 lots.
