Marc Straus appoints new gallery director in a move to grow presence in Asia
Hailing from Singapore, Tan brings with him extensive knowledge of the Asian contemporary art markets.

NEW YORK, NY.- Marc Straus is proud to announce the appointment of Ken Tan as Gallery Director. Tan will be joining forces with Gallery Director and partner, Timothy Hawkinson, and will focus on multimedia and communications strategies. He will spearhead the gallery’s efforts in Asia and the Middle East, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Jakarta, and Dubai.

Hailing from Singapore, Tan brings with him extensive knowledge of the Asian contemporary art markets, and over 10 years of entrepreneurial and multimedia experience. In Singapore, he served as a private advisor to contemporary artists wishing to enter the international art market. In 2012, he founded a multi-disciplinary marketing agency in Singapore focusing on creative marketing solutions for a digital generation, leading the campaigns for the National Museum of Singapore, the Singapore Art Museum, and Singapore Fashion Festival. Tan is a recipient of numerous multimedia awards and is also a passionate collector of contemporary art.

Marc Straus says, “We are thrilled to have Ken on board as Director of the gallery. His extensive knowledge of the market and of artists in South East Asia; and his proven experience as a leader in multimedia marketing is an extraordinary combination.”

Tan’s first project is the upcoming solo exhibition of Hermann Nitsch’s paintings. Nitsch is arguably Austria’s most important and influential living artist. This is Nitsch’s first show with the gallery, which will span work from over 40 years. The exhibitions runs from September 9 to October 18.
