Diversity marks Heritage Long Beach Expo U.S. Coins auction
1792 P10C Disme, Judd-10, Pollock-11, XF40 PCGS Secure.

DALLAS, TX.- A 1792 Copper Disme XF40 PCGS Secure, Ex: Wurtzbach-Partrick, one of the most storied coins in American Numismatics, is among the top offerings in Heritage Auctions' Sept. 17-20 Long Beach Expo U.S. Coins Signature® Auction. What's more this particular coin has the distinction of having been the 1914 ANS Exhibition Plate Coin.

"This 1792 Copper Disme is a magnificent coin and the perfect piece to lead our September Long Beach sale," said Greg Rohan, President of Heritage Auctions. "The hallmark of this auction is in the wild variety of the coins we've put together. There is a coin for every type of collector here."

Gold always factors heavily into Heritage numismatic events, with an 1877 $50 Fifty Dollar "Half Union" PR63+ NGC, a very rare $50 pattern, one of the principal gold highlights of the auction. Also sure to make collectors of rare gold take note is a gold 1905 1C Indian Cent — struck on a Quarter Eagle planchet — in MS64 PCGS, a breathtaking gold mint error and one of just five Indian cents known on a gold planchet.

A classic 19th century gold rarity, an 1875 $5 PR64 Cameo NGC, one of only nine proofs believed known in private hands, is another treasure that is sure to be wildly sought-after by top collectors, while a 1799 'No Berries' Silver Dollar MS65 NGC, double struck, terminal die state, being offered in the auction represents the true rarity of Gem Uncirculated Heraldic Eagle dollars and a coin that is often underestimated by even experienced collectors and series specialists, a function of the larger mintages and the longer duration of the series.

"The survival rate of Gem or finer Heraldic Eagle dollars is significantly less than that of either the Flowing Hair or Small Eagle types in terms of Gem or finer coins," said Rohan. "Heritage rarely has the opportunity to offer an MS65 Large Eagle dollar with the Mint-fresh appeal and pinpoint-sharp strike possessed this amazing example."

Further highlights include, but are not limited to:

• 1838 25C MS67 NGC: Single-finest certified example and Registry Set essential.

• 1795 Flowing Hair Half Dime MS66 PCGS: Only two numerically finer known at PCGS.

• 1795 Flowing Hair Half Dime MS66 PCGS Secure, Ex: Gardner: The popular V-5, LM-8 Variety and a great example of the Flowing Hair design type.

• 1909-S VDB 1C MS67 Red PCGS Secure: Tied for Finest Certified with exceptional color and surfaces.

• 1793 1C Liberty Cap VF35 PCGS Secure: With the famous bisecting crack, the eighth finest known.
