Leading Turkish auction house Antik A.S. announces Modern & Contemporary Art auction

ISTANBUL.- The leading auction house of Turkey, Antik A.S. announces the 288th auction of Modern and Contemporary Art in Istanbul which will take place on Saturday 7 November 2015. The sale will offer an important selection of works of art from the Turkish Art including a masterpiece by Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu, impressive works of Orhan Peker, Erol Akyavas, Burhan Doğançay, Ferruh Başağa, Adnan Çoker and Mehmet Güleryüz.

The auction will take place in Antik Palace and will present 170 exceptional modern & contemporary artwork. The leading highlight of the sale Eyüboğlu’s “Farmer’s Family” an important work with an 100,000 – 150,000 USD and is expected to generate tremendous excitement for the collectors.. Antik A.Ş. will also offer paintings by the masters of Modern Turkish Art.. Orhan Peker’ “Cats”, Erol Akyavaş’s 5 canvas works, Burhan Doğançay’s “Overshadowed” are highlights of the sale.

Kemal Önsoy’s important canvas’, are truly collector’s dream, with an estimation of 60,000 – 100,000 USD.. Avni Arbaş, Orhan Peker, Komet and Ergin Inan works will also be offered in the sale with estimation of 20,000 – 40,000 USD.

Antik A.S.’s choice for the contemporary part of auction gives an important clue about the top dynamic Turkish Artists.. Antik A.S. offers artists like Azade Köker, Nilbar Güreş, Selma Gürbüz, Gülay Semercioğlu, Kemal Önsoy, Canan Tolon, Mehmet Ali Uysal, Burcu Perçin, Murat Pulat and Ahmet Elhan; whose works are also in the Istanbul Modern Museum.

Olgac Artam, auctioneer of the sale, said “the sale is giving an opportunity to own extraordinary works of important modern and contemporary artists” Artam predicts that this auction will make a great positive impact on the upcoming Contemporary Istanbul art fair, and to the market.

Turkey’s small but rapidly developing art market has seen paintings fetch record prices even during the worst times of the crisis due to overwhelming demand from the well known collectors including private museums, investment funds and some individual buyers. The Turkish art market has won great returns for collectors over the past few years. And now becoming more attractive to the international buyers because of the recent emerging market’s currency positions.

Besides the Turkish art, the sale offers editions and canvas’ by international artists like Francis Bacon, Joan Miro, Yves Klein, Damien Hirst, Victor Vasarely, Peter Halley, Peter Zimmerman and Hiroshi Sugimoto.

The auction which will be held at main building of Antik A.S. November 7, 2015. Presenting a very important selection in the field of Modern and Contemporary Turkish Art, featuring works by museum artists.
