NEW YORK, NY.- On November 4 and 5, 2015, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum celebrated the 2015 Guggenheim International Gala honoring artists On Kawara (in memoriam), Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian, and Doris Salcedo. A special musical performance by Grimes filled the museum’s rotunda on November 4, while guests enjoyed a preview of Tom Gold Dance’s revival of November Steps the following night. More than $2 million was raised in support of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. The 2015 Guggenheim International Gala was made possible by Dior.

The November 5 benefit dinner included honorary chairs Christina Baker, Allison and Howard Lutnick, Phyllis Mack, Raf Simons, Jennifer Blei Stockman, and Sidney Toledano, and cochairs Todd and Katie Boehly, Valentino Carlotti, and Denise Saul. Distinguished guests in attendance included Noreen Ahmad, Richard Armstrong, Debra Black, A$AP Rocky, Tiqui Atencio, Robert Baker, Liddy Berman, Emily Blunt, Katherine Brinson, Lee Bul, John and Denise Calicchio, Anne Collier, Mary Sharp Cronson, Charles Diker, Marie and Carl Gustaf Ehrnrooth, Peter Fischli, Tom Gold, Agnes Gund, Anne Huntington, Dakota Johnson, Rashid Johnson, Jill Kraus, Michael and Nina Lynne, William Mack, Linda Macklowe, Peter Marino, Wendy L. On the occasion of the gala, New York City Ballet dancers performed a special preview of Tom Gold Dance’s revival of November Steps, an original ballet by dancer and choreographer Minsa Craig, wife of Italian artist Alberto Burri. The public performance, which will take place on November 12, has been organized by the Guggenheim in conjunction with the centennial of Alberto Burri’s birth and the retrospective exhibition Alberto Burri: The Trauma of Painting, on view through January 6, 2016.

The gala benefit auction will take place as part of Phillips’s Contemporary Art Day Sale on November 10, 2015, and will feature three artworks donated by artists Paweł Althamer, Ryan McGinley, and Haegue Yang. Funds raised from this benefit sale will support the Guggenheim’s exhibitions and educational programming over the course of the next year.

On November 4, the 2015 Guggenheim International Gala Pre-party, hosted by the Guggenheim’s Young Collectors Council and made possible by Dior, featured a special performance by Canadian producer, singer, and songwriter Grimes.
