MORRISTOWN, NJ.- Beginning this December, the Morris Museum presents an exhibition that weaves together texting and textiles. Featuring more than thirty contemporary artists, "Text Messages" is on view in Morristown from December 5, 2015 through March 20, 2016. The exhibition was organized by Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc.

From the obvious connection to modern technology to works comprised solely of actual or implied writing, the quilts in the exhibition explore the many facets of the term "text message." The featured artists draw inspiration from graffiti, photograph notations, love letters, ancestor letters, hieroglyphs and their own journals. Their work references family, technology, the personal, and the universal.

“This exhibition of art quilts continues the Morris Museum's commitment to showcasing the work of fine craft artists in thought-provoking and inventive ways,” said Linda Moore, Executive Director of the Morris Museum.

Artists included in the "Text Messages" exhibition: Naomi Adams, Helen Beaven, Peggy Brown, Shannon Conley, Carol Coohey, Phyllis Cullen, Gabriele DiTota, Ree Fagan, Monique Gilbert, Iva Jensen, Georgianne Kandler, Bella Kaplan, Kathleen Kastles, Patricia Kennedy-Zafred, Sherry Kleinman, Karol Kusmaul, Barbara Lange, Uta Lenk, Susan Lenz, Lisette Léveillé, Denise Linet, Kathleen Loomis, Salli McQuaid, Susie Monday, Amalia Morusiewicz, Judith Plotner, Connie Rohman, Judy Sebastian, Susan Shie, Diane Skidmore, Lois Sprague, Grietje van der Veen, Enid Weichselbaum, and Charlotte Ziebarth.
