HELVOIRT.- Five galleries from France, The Netherlands and the UK have been selected to take part in TEFAF Showcase, the section that gives galleries a one-off opportunity to exhibit at TEFAF Maastricht, the world’s leading art fair. The selected dealers are specialists in a range of disciplines that include tribal art; decorative arts & design (1870-1910); art nouveau, art deco and 20th-century design; Renaissance and baroque bronzes and master drawings from the 16th to 20th centuries. The chosen galleries will exhibit in a specially designed area at the fair, which takes place at the MECC (Maastricht Exhibition and Congress Centre), The Netherlands from 11-20 March 2016.

“Each year TEFAF Showcase introduces some exceptionally talented new dealers to TEFAF,” commented Ben Janssens, member of the TEFAF Executive Committee. “It is particularly pleasing to note the number of these dealers that have graduated from TEFAF Showcase to becoming long-term participants in the fair itself.”

TEFAF Showcase was established in 2008 to give recently established galleries the opportunity to participate in TEFAF and to gain experience of being part of a major international art event. It also introduces collectors at the fair to some of the most interesting emerging galleries from around the world.

The conditions for applicants for TEFAF Showcase are:

• The gallery or dealer operates at a high level in their field

• The gallery or dealer has international standing

• The gallery or dealer must have been in business for at least three but no more than ten years

• All works to be shown at TEFAF are pre-vetted

TEFAF Showcase galleries 2016 are:

Kunstconsult specialises in art nouveau, art deco, modernism and 20th century design, covering a wide spectrum of disciplines including furniture, textiles, sculpture and painting.

The Netherlands Dealing privately from his Rotterdam gallery, Onno van Seggelen stocks a wide range of master drawings from the 16th to the 20th centuries and counts many leading museums amongst his clients.
