ATLANTA, GA.- Mayor Kasim Reed honors SCAD President and Founder Paula Wallace with a Phoenix Award, Atlanta’s highest citizen honor, for her extraordinary contributions to the city’s artistic, educational and cultural landscape. In addition, the Atlanta City Council has declared December SCAD Month in the city of Atlanta, issuing a proclamation that praises Wallace for her leadership as SCAD Atlanta celebrates its 10th anniversary.

“The Mayor and the Atlanta City Council have graciously supported and promoted SCAD’s successes over the past decade. SCAD is privileged to contribute to the Atlanta higher education community,” said SCAD President and Founder Paula Wallace. “It is my joy to enrich the creative and educational landscape of my hometown, Atlanta.”

SCAD Atlanta is one of four SCAD locations in the US, Europe and Asia and is home to the below university assets:

• The new SCAD FASH museum of fashion and film (www.scadfash.com), now showing 84 Oscar de la Renta garments, including those for Taylor Swift and Beyonce, at 1600 Peachtree St.

• The newly expanded 60,000 square-foot SCAD Digital Media Center at 1611 West Peachtree St. This leading-edge tech complex is for digital production and editing of live action and animated films, television programming, video games and other media for SCAD students and Atlanta’s entertainment industry.

• The 560-seat SCADshow at 173 14th St. is a main venue for SCAD’s aTVfest conference of television professionals — including award-winning actors, directors, writers, producers, executives and others at exclusive screenings, lectures and workshops — from Feb. 4-7, 2016.

• The historic Ivy Hall Writing Center at 179 Ponce de Leon Ave. is a community resource where authors from Augusten Burroughs to Arianna Huffington have spoken, and more.

SCAD is celebrating SCAD Month in part with shopSCAD on-the-Go, an exciting mobile retail space located in a vintage Airstream at 1600 Peachtree St. that offers holiday shoppers gifts for the home and accessories designed by SCAD students, faculty and alumni.
