STUTTGART.- The Staatsgalerie Stuttgart is the first museum to develop an audio guide that traces the provenance of different works in the collection.
The audio guide was developed and compiled by Dr. Anja Heuß, provenance researcher at the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart..
A seasoned expert in her field, Anja Heuß has been working as provenance researcher at the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart since 2009. Initially funded by the Arbeitsstelle für Provenienzforschung (Office for Provenance Research) and the state of Baden-Wurttemberg, her position was made permanent in 2015 on the initiative of Staatssekretär Jürgen Walter and with funding from the state of Baden-Wurttemberg.
Anja Heuß sums up the results of her ongoing research in her audio guide to the collection of the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart. It brings provenance research, which usually goes on unseen behind the scenes of the museum, to a wider audience.
Most of the works included in the »Suspected Nazi Loot?« provenance tour are preserved in the Department of Modern Art. A few fascinating exceptions can be found among the German Old Masters and nineteenth-century paintings.
The audio guide introduces eleven works from the collection and is available in both English and German.
