HONG KONG.- The 2015 Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (Hong Kong) opened at Kowloon Park and the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre. Open for three months, until 28 February 2016, UABBHK is a destination for people of all ages to explore and discover, learn and share. Admission is free.

Themed 'VISIONS 2050 - Lifestyle and the City', UABB(HK) is an event of international standards bringing together the public and creative industries to examine the enrichment of our city’s living culture in the next 35 years, unlike anything Hong Kong has seen before.

Spread across 34,000 m2 of the park, the event is set to inspire and wow visitors with over 60 exhibitors from around the world showcasing spectacular large-scale installations, artwork, fashion, accessories and urban farming. The contributors are inventors, creatives and visionaries who have varied backgrounds from academia and business sectors to the collective community, and include architects, planners, ecologists, fashion and product designers, filmmakers, photographers, students and much more.

President Mr. Vincent Ng said, “The 2015 Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture encourages us to look ahead to 2050 and consider how we want and need our city to evolve over the next 35 years. UABBHK is a platform for discussion and contemplation, and we welcome the public and tourists alike to visit and participate in the conversation.”

UABB(HK) puts the future of Hong Kong’s urban development in the spotlight with the public invited to contribute to the discussion through a number of activities and programmes. Recognising that it is the younger generation of Hong Kong that will be the decision-makers of tomorrow, the curatorial team led by Chief Curator, Christine Hawley with Sarah Lee, Roger Wu, Yutaka Yano and Paolo Zaide, seek to create an exchange of ideas with today’s youth.

Chief Curator, Professor Christine Hawley said, “It gives us great pleasure to officially launch this year’s theme of 'VISIONS 2050 - Lifestyle and the City' focusing on the future of Hong Kong and intrinsic relationship between how we conduct our daily life and the physical environment around us. Hong Kong is a unique city creating opportunities for the younger generation to think seriously about the challenges ahead. Here today, with the amount of talent brought together, we should all look forward to the sheer breadth of imagination and vision that contributes to our experience of everyday life.”

For us, the future starts today and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) is committed to driving this to happen,” said Mr. Andrew Young, Chief Commercial Officer of HKSTP. “Visitors can take a step into our Smart City Pavilion and envision what the future brings for humanity. The eye-catching elements inside the pavilion may appear futuristic, but all are based on ideas and products already emerging from Science Park.”

UABB(HK) consists of four main components: the Lecture and Forum Programme, Thematic Screening Programme, Education Programme and Special Programme of ‘Lifestyle and the Smart City’. The public is invited to engage in performances, film screenings, symposium, forums, workshops and guided tours.
