PARIS.- The exceptional collection of letters and manuscripts, gathered over the years by the society Aristophil, is one of the most prestigious privately owned compendiums in the world. Its sale, organised by the Commercial Court of Paris (France) should allow the acquisition of the collection and assets of Aristophil in full respect of the market balance and with the maximum transparency.
Eisenhower, Dickens, Brontë, Mozart, Monnet, Napoleon, Marie-Antoinette and a survivor of the Titanic to name but a few
The collection that the simplified joint-stock company Aristophil built by between 2003 and 2015 has an unprecedented patrimonial and cultural value. It consists of nearly 130,000 pieces in the form of manuscripts, letters, sheet music, drawings, incunabula and paintings; so many traces left by the great masters of the worlds of art, literature, music, politics and sciences, who left their mark on the world history. Its total value is estimated of several hundreds of millions of euros, including 500 extremely rare pieces, which would rival any museum exhibit.
The company has refocused its activities on the conservation of its collection and of the pieces already sold to private owners or in joint ownership, following the judicial liquidation ruled by the Commercial Court of Paris (France) on 5th August 2015. The Court chose the judicial assignment of the society and its assets as the best solution to protect the balance of the market of art and manuscripts as well as the integrity of the collection. This judicial assignment will be operated under the supervision of authorized representatives in accordance with the rules of transparency and strictness demanded by such a process. The future buyer of this collection will have to justify his capacity of conservation, care and valorisation of this exceptional heritage.
Consequently, the Court invites interested investors to collect the necessary information regarding the conditions of the sale and to submit their offer before 3rd February 2016, 5.00 pm (GMT +1).
