NEW YORK, NY.- Sotheby’s today announced that Andrea Fiuczynski, currently Chairman of Sotheby’s West Coast Division, has been promoted to serve as Chairman of Regional Offices, Americas, effective immediately.

An auction house veteran with a distinguished 30-year career, Fiuczynski joined Sotheby’s in February 2014, with responsibility for operations from San Diego to Seattle. In her expanded role, Fiuczynski will be responsible for the company’s regional business development throughout North, Central and South America, including management of all regional offices and representatives therein.

Tad Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sotheby’s, stated: “A key element of our strategy for growth has been to review our position within various markets globally, to ensure that we have the right combination of resources to drive success. We see tremendous opportunity with both existing and new clients across the Americas, and I am very pleased to have Andrea heading our efforts in these regions. She is a consummate arts professional and a born leader, who in just under two years at Sotheby’s has galvanized our activities on the West Coast. We look forward with great confidence to developments in the Americas under her guidance.”

During Fiuczynski’s tenure as Chairman for the West Coast, the number of works consigned from the region increased 71% (2015 v. 2013), a significant expansion of events and programming has dramatically increased Sotheby’s profile, and she has made key hires in Business Development, Valuations and Trusts & Estates in particular. Her most recent achievement at Sotheby’s has been the opening of the Company’s new office and gallery space in Los Angeles, located in Century City – this follows her opening of a new Sotheby’s office in San Francisco in September 2015, located in the Financial District.

Andrea Fiuczynski stated: “I am pleased to have been chosen to oversee the development of Sotheby’s business throughout the Americas, carrying forward the deep commitment to client service, excellence and innovation that is at the core of our strategic growth plan. Over the past two years on the West Coast, we have been able to strengthen our existing relationships while tapping the enormous potential of new buyers and next-generation collectors throughout the region. Our goal now is to make the investments of personnel, expertise, and client service in North and South America that will help move Sotheby’s ahead.”

Andrea Fiuczynski began her career in 1985 as a French & Continental Furniture specialist at Christie’s in New York. After spending time in Berlin as the Director of European Furniture & Valuations, she relocated to Los Angeles in 1997 and was appointed President of Christie’s Los Angeles in 2001. An experienced and dynamic auctioneer, she regularly conducts sales in New York and Hong Kong. Fiuczynski frequently lends her auctioneering skills to charitable organizations including amfAR, The Clinton Foundation, the Haitian Relief Organization and UNICEF.
