Kaminski Auctions announces two estate auctions this month
The calendar includes Estate Auctions on Sunday, March 13th, and a Two Day Spring Estate Extravaganza auction on Saturday March 19 and Sunday March 20, 2016.

BEVERLY, MASS.- Kaminski Auctions has a busy schedule for March 2016. The calendar includes Estate Auctions on Sunday, March 13th, and a Two Day Spring Estate Extravaganza auction on Saturday March 19 and Sunday March 20, 2016.

The March 13th sale features an 18th/19th century Reuben Tower Federal inlaid dwarf clock with original mahogany finish in the Roxbury Willard style. The movement is in running condition and the exquisite piece is topped with three elaborate brass finials. The half clock stands 52 5/8" high and is estimated at $15,000-$25,000.

Dwarf clocks such as this, are sometimes referred to as grandmother or half-clocks. They were produced in limited numbers mostly on the South Shore of Boston in the towns of Hingham and Hanover. Many clocks were produced in simple pine but later more sophisticated designs in mahogany with fretwork and elaborate brass finials were developed by clockmakers known as The Bailey School. Well- known clockmakers from the period (1810-1825) included John Bailey II, Joshua Wilder and Reuben Tower. This magnificent example of American clock making is attributed to Reuben Tower.

Other lots of interest include two 19th century near-matching balustrade form covered Sevres urns in cobalt blue and gilt with hand-painted Romance scenes and bronze mounts standing 25 1/2" high are estimated at $8,000-$12,000 and a 19th century Black Forest clock and coordinating candlesticks, marked "Demilles Camps, Paris," from a New York collection.

There are several bronzes in the sale from a Puerto Rico estate including a Louis Chalon (French, 1866-1916), titled "Conquerir le Monde," with gilt and patination on a black marble plinth, standing 17 inches high and two pieces by Jean-Leon Gerome (French, 1824-1904) and "La Joueuse de Cerceau," gilt bronze on a pink marble plinth, signed J. L. Gerome, Siot-Decauville Paris Foundry both estimated at $2,000-$4,000.

Jewelry in the sale includes a ladies 14 carat white gold and diamond ring with 2.44 carat diamond estimated at $10,000-$15,000, a vintage Mario Buccellati ring in 18 carat yellow gold, having a center cabochon amethyst surrounded by round brilliant diamonds, a Cartier 18 carat gold Trinity bracelet and a vintage Mikimoto pearl and gold bangle bracelet with two rows of Japanese saltwater Akayo pearls, having the touch marks "Mikimoto, Tokyo, K1".

Preview for this sale is Thursday through Saturday, March 10th-12th from 10:00am-5:00pm and day of sale beginning at 8:00am at the Kaminski Auctions gallery at 117 Elliott Street, RT.62, Beverly, Massachusetts.
