DALLAS, TX.- Heritage Auctions has announced that Giles Moon, regarded as one of the most knowledgeable and respected specialists with more than 25 years in the collectibles business, has joined the firm as a Consignment Director of Entertainment & Music Memorabilia based in its San Francisco office.

“Giles has built a stellar reputation known throughout the world,” said Greg Rohan, President of Heritage Auctions. “His enthusiasm and knowledge will certainly bring a new dimension to the services in our growing San Francisco office.”

Giles’ international experience within the auction industry began in 1988 at Christie’s South Kensington, London, where he spent his first three years as an assistant in the Antiquarian Book Dept. In 1991, Giles joined the Popular Entertainment department, where he specialized in Rock & Roll and Movie Memorabilia. He joined Sotheby’s London in 1997, assuming the position of Associate Director of Rock & Roll before an appointment to Sotheby’s New York’s Collectibles department as Assistant Vice President, heading up Entertainment Memorabilia.

“I’m passionate about Pop Culture and I’m interested in all areas of collectibles,” he said. “My interests are diverse and there is no collection too big or too small to capture my curiosity.”

Since moving to Australia with his family in 2001, Giles has diversified to become a trusted specialist in a wide range of collecting fields. In addition to Entertainment Memorabilia, Giles has particular expertise in antique toys, militaria including medals, sporting memorabilia, movie and advertising posters, classic radios and historical memorabilia.

Among the many important collections and single items he has managed include The Capt. Shout Gallipoli Victoria Cross – which established a world record price for a medal. He also brought to auction the largest privately owned toy collection in Australia from 2010-1014; the Personal Property of Marilyn Monroe: The Berniece & Mona Miracle Collection in 2001; The Charlie Parker Collection in 1994; The Cynthia Lennon Collection in 1991.
