NORWICH.- Norwich is seeing the development of a new gallery quarter, led by the emergence of several new commercial galleries in the city. Gallery in the Lanes, the sister gallery of Riverside Art and Glass in Wroxham, opened in October 2015 and has enjoyed great success in its first months of trading.

The gallery announced the appointment of a new Gallery Manager, Louisa Milsome, who joins a very dedicated and enthusiastic gallery team committed to the commercial promotion of artists working in a variety of media. Miss Milsome says:

‘It’s a very exciting time for the Visual Arts here in Norwich and across the region. We have an incredibly hard-working community of artists and makers who are helping put Norwich on the cultural and economic map. I’m very pleased to be joining a gallery who have taken the bold step of opening a second site in Norwich and a team who believe so strongly in the value of galleries and in helping artists achieve commercial success’.

Educated at the University of Warwick and Central St Martin’s, Miss Milsome previously managed the Gallery at Norwich University of the Arts. She has worked with galleries of international standing including the Hayward Gallery, London and Norfolk’s own Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery. Her areas of expertise include establishing relationships with artists and encouraging commercial development. Following previous successes in bringing a number of high-profile exhibitions to regional audiences, Miss Milsome looks forward to developing a packed calendar of events and exhibitions at the Norwich and Wroxham galleries. She also feels there are enormous opportunities to promote artists at events throughout the region and welcomes news of fairs and festivals looking to develop a visual arts element.

Gallery in the Lanes and Riverside Art and Glass also work with local stylists and journalists to supply original artworks for photographic shoots and filming.

Riverside Art and Glass was very pleased to open a brand new exhibition space with an inaugural exhibition of selected works by the Norwich 20 group of artists, including work by the group’s chair, Martin Laurence. This space is available for hire all year round by solo artists and groups.
