AMSTERDAM.- On March 31, 2016, Vroom & Varossieau will open its doors in Amsterdam. The new gallery specializes in street art and urban contemporary art by internationally celebrated artists as well as emerging talent. Dutch street poet Laser 3.14, known for his sharp, humorous texts, will be the first artist featured, with a solo exhibition showing his latest works. In addition, work will be presented by Bansky, D*Face, Keith Haring and KAWS. The next exhibition in May and June will focus on Brazilian street artist Cranio.

First exhibition
The exhibition ‘Press Here for Some Counterculture’, running 1st April thru 15th May, sees the artist playfully embrace the attitude of the anti-establishment while being equally wary of how easily it's coopted, manufactured and mass produced. Central to the show is the presentation of a new body of work that has the artist move beyond the short arresting statements he's known for into longer-form wordplay. In addition, Laser 3.14 has created a new wooden patchwork installation. With each piece operating as a sound byte of the now, the artist asks us to question the conflicting and complimentary statements he makes about our current social, cultural and political lives. As a counterpoint to the playful skepticism of the show's title, the artist will release a new 'Troublemakers Make The World Go Round' Corten steel shield, calling upon those who dare to dissent.

Street poet Laser 3.14
Laser 3.14 is one of the most visible street artists in Amsterdam. Always combining his pseudonym with an impactful statement or question, he’s been sharing his poetic messages on fences and scaffolding screens at building sites for more than fifteen years, and is celebrated globally for his bold statements about politics, popular culture and everyday life. Alongside street art, Laser 3.14 paints, produces graphic works on paper and creates sculptures. Most recently Laser 3.14’s work has been acquired by the Amsterdam Museum as part of its permanent collection.

Amsterdam
Gallery Vroom & Varossieau is located near Museum Square in the heart of the Oud-Zuid district. The ground floor and basement of a mansion characteristic of the district have been transformed into a light, minimally designed space for the best possible presentation of works of art. High walls offer possibilities for large temporary murals. The gallery is also available for private functions.

Urban Contemporary Art
The new art gallery was founded by Isabelle Vroom and Olivier Varossieau. Both professionals have been active in international art trade since 2010. Besides managing the gallery they arrange licenses and commissions for murals for contracted artists. They also advise private collectors on buying or selling works of art.
