BERLIN.- Contemporary Fine Arts is presenting the second solo exhibition with Christian Rosa (*1982 in São Paulo).
Christian Rosas paintings play with the weight and definition of classical modernism. Automatic writing, a consciousness of materiality and substance and the poetry of artistic moments are elements of recent art history, which are implied in Rosas ductus, with the momentum of a highway or the calculations of a skater, Roberto Ohrt admirably noted in the exhibition catalogue from 2014.
Rosas works appear quite physically tangible to what extent this reveals the physical input of the artist remains open. They are however also the result of an intellectual action and map out the success, as well as the putative failure of this undertaking.
The increasing reduction in the paintings of Christian Rosa, which already evolved over the last years, becomes even more evident in these newest paintings. They adumbrate approaches in figuration and narration, which are deliberately being left open ended by the artist.
Christian Rosa studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and lives and works in Los Angeles and Vienna. His works have been exhibited with White Cube in London and São Paolo, at the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin, and at the Kunstverein in Heilbronn among others.
