BEVERLY HILLS, CA.- Dale Chihuly's singular blown glass and forged steel Red and Gold Leaf Chandelier, 1997, is expected to sell for $60,000 in Heritage Auctions' May 17 20th & 21st Century Design Auction in Beverly Hills. The auction's special selection of items from artist's personal estates span woodworking, clothing design, and printmaking.

"This expansive auction features the work of some of the most important and collected artists, designers and makers of the 20th century," said Katie Nartonis, Consignment Director, 20th + 21st Century Design. "These works offer a timeline from the early years of Art Deco to the contemporary works. The sale offers in effect a kind of design timeline from the early years of Art Deco to more current design masterworks."

The auction takes place during "Design Week At Heritage," a series of special including Fast Forward: The Architecture of William F. Cody, a gallery talk by Cathy Cody and Jo Lauria, Curator/Director of the upcoming A+D Museum Cody retrospective on May 13; The Clear Genius of Designer, Charles Hollis Jones, an interview and presentation with the artist on May 15; and West Coast Mysticism: Talismans of the Counter-Culture, a gallery talk by Nartonis featuring artist Frank E. A California Games Table, 1974, made with various inlaid hardwoods appears at auction directly from the estate of Sam Maloof's daughter, Marilouise Maloof (est. $12,000-$18,000). Additional masterpieces in wood include Dining Chair from the Clarence Sondern House, Kansas City, circa 1939, by Frank Lloyd Wright (est. $10,000-$15,000) and Trestle Table, 1958, by George Nakashima (est. $7,000-$10,000).
