NEW YORK, NY.- In celebration of New York design destination WYETHs 20th anniversary, as well as the much-anticipated opening of its new space in Tribeca this spring,
Sothebys is partnering with WYETH to hold a dedicated sale selected from its extensive and coveted collection.
WYETH: The Art of Timeless Design will be held on 7 June 2016 at Sothebys New York, comprising approximately 200 pieces of furniture and design objects, unified by integrity of materials, impeccable craftsmanship and beauty of form each piece evoking the singular design aesthetic and vision of the family-owned brand. With estimates starting at $1,000, the auction represents a unique opportunity for both new and established collectors to discover and acquire a piece representing WYETHs signature aesthetic and connoisseurship.
With a strong emphasis on Scandinavian, American and European modernism, WYETHs sale at Sothebys will present a wide range of iconic and uncommon models across all media by key designers of the period, including: Hans Wegner, Finn Juhl, Poul Kjaerholm, Paavo Tynell, Gino Sarfatti, George Nakashima, Edward Wormley, Charles and Ray Eames, James Prestini, and Carl Aubock. The auction also will offer a selection of works designed and executed by WYETH Studio.
The full contents of the sale will be on public exhibition in Sothebys New York galleries beginning 3 June, alongside the annual spring auction of Important Design.
