MADRID.- The Museo del Prado and Fundación BBVA wish to offer visitors every opportunity to visit "Bosch: The 5th Centenary Exhibition,” a unique event at which they can enter the imagination of one of the most fascinating and universal painters of all time. In this respect, more than 428.527 visitors have already enjoyed the exhibition. The show will therefore remain open until next 25 September, featuring special opening hours, given that, over the last two weekends, visitors can enjoy the exhibition up until midnight.

In order to facilitate the purchase of tickets and avoid queues as time passes are required, we recommend visitors to purchase their tickets in advance by selecting the date and time of entry. These passes are available at both the ticket office and via the Internet (www.museodelprado.es).

The considerable success of the exhibition amongst the general public - the event has already been seen by some 428.527 visitors - coupled with the generosity of the institutions and private owners who have loaned the works that make up the exhibition, have led the Museo del Prado and Fundación BBVA to extend the duration of the exhibition by two weeks, up until 25 September.

The opening hours of the show during these two weeks (12 to 25 September), will be Monday to Thursday from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 am to 12.00 am.

With these initiatives, the Museum seeks to offer visitors every opportunity to see this unrepeatable exhibition, the first monographic event devoted to the artist's work in Spain and one of the most comprehensive and highest-quality exhibitions staged to date. The Museo del Prado's own collection of Bosch's work is one of the largest and best in the world, including masterpieces such as "The Garden of Earthly Delights,” "The Hay Wain" and "The Adoration of the Magi". On this occasion and for the first time ever, this collection has been complemented by loans such as "The Saint Anthony Triptych" belonging to the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga in Lisbon, "Christ Carrying the Cross" belonging to Patrimonio Nacional, "The Crowning with Thorns" from the National Gallery in London and a drawing of the "Man-Tree" belonging to the Albertina in Vienna, one of the artist's greatest masterpieces.

Featuring a presentation that is as astonishing and exceptional as the paintings themselves, "Bosch: The 5th Centenary Exhibition" will bring together more than 50 works of art, including 21 paintings and 8 original drawings by Bosch, making up more than 75% of his surviving work. Visitors will also be able to see a number of engravings, relief works, miniatures and paintings by other artists, thus recreating the context in which Bosch's masterpieces were conceived.

In addition, the Museo del Prado has organized an extensive and varied program of activities to complement, explain and promote this unique exhibition, including a documentary directed by José Luis López-Linares and the publication of a comic by the illustrator, Max. We might also mention the6th Prado Research Chair (VI Cátedra del Prado), in which Reindert Falkenburg will address the work of Bosch and his disciple, Pieter Bruegel the Elder. An ambitious video-installation has also been created specially for Room C at the Museum. Thus, based on Bosch's exceptional and iconic work, "The Garden of Earthly Delights,” this installation has been conceived to create a totally immersive atmosphere that allows visitors to enter the famous triptych through a sensorial and perceptual space, moving around the Earthly Paradise, the Garden of Earthly Delights and Hell in the company of numerous figures, creatures and entities. In this project entitled "Infinite Garden,” the artist, Álvaro Perdices, and the film-maker, Andrés Sanz, dissect the painting's multiple pictorial worlds in order to create an entirely sensorial environment that is, in turn, enveloped by a specially created soundscape.
