Mark Reisbaum appointed Chief Philanthropy Officer of The Contemporary Jewish Museum
Reisbaum has most recently served as Senior Director of Philanthropic Engagement at the San Francisco-based Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA.- The Contemporary Jewish Museum announces the appointment of Mark Reisbaum as Chief Philanthropy Officer. Reisbaum will begin in his new role September 26, 2016. Overseeing the Development function at The CJM, he will report to CJM Executive Director Lori Starr and will work closely with Starr and the Board of Trustees as The CJM continues to build its ever-widening base of philanthropic support in the Bay Area, nationally, and internationally.

A seasoned nonprofit manager and recognized Jewish community leader, Reisbaum has most recently served as Senior Director of Philanthropic Engagement at the San Francisco-based Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund, which he joined in 1997. In his role at the Federation, he has overseen a broad array of donor development, stewardship, engagement, grant-making, leadership development, and client service initiatives, involving multiple generations in philanthropy through a Jewish lens.

“Mark has been a long-time champion of The CJM,” says Starr. “He is known for his strategic approach to fund development and large-scale campaigns, and for his ability to cultivate strong long-term relationships with both colleagues and donors. Mark has established a deep network within the San Francisco Bay Area philanthropic community. There is no one better for this position, and we are absolutely thrilled to be welcoming him to our team.”

Prior to entering the nonprofit world, Reisbaum worked for ten years in investment banking in Hong Kong and New York. He holds a B.A. from Columbia College and a Masters in Nonprofit Administration from the University of San Francisco. An active community volunteer, Reisbaum completed a six-year term on the Board of Directors of GLAAD. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of SPARK SF Public Schools and on the Advisory Board of Vibe Israel. He is also a graduate of the Wexner Heritage Program.

“I am delighted to be joining the leadership team at The CJM,” says Reisbaum. “For me, The CJM stands out as the organization that most effectively bridges our rich history and traditions with the search for meaning and celebration of Jewish identity today and going forward.”
