LONDON.- Christies will present a stunning ensemble of 20th century works of art and design from the collection of renowned antique dealer and TV personality, Gordon Watson, which will be offered in South Kensington on 13 October. A passionate and ever acquisitive collector, Gordon Watson has entrusted Christies with the sale of the collection in order to make room for new works of art. Driven by expertise and passion, Watson spent several years gathering fascinating and innovative works of art and design. The collection comprises Indian, Japanese, English and European Furniture, European ceramics, 20th century design and Contemporary works of art produced by artists such as Sarah Lucas, Wolfgang Tillmans and Walead Beshty. With 196 lots, the offering promises to provide bidding opportunities for collectors at every level, with estimates for individual lots ranging from £500 to £50,000. Gordon Watson will be discussing the wonderful pieces on offer at the Christies Late event on 4 October at Christies South Kensington, which is free and open to the public.
One of Londons most respected antique dealers, Watson founded his gallery in the 70s in central London. The shop was a success from its foundation and throughout the years has welcomed numerous high-profile clients including Elton John and Mick Jagger. Watson has appeared on the Channel 4 programme Four Rooms and his latest foray into the world of television in the recent BBC2 series: The Extraordinary Collector, which saw him visit and add items to distinguished English collections.

Highlights include a black cat lamp by Studio Job, a 17th century Isfahan rug from Central Persia, a rock crystal and rose quartz box by Paul Belvoir and the top lot of the auction is an iridescent ammonite from Canada from the upper Cretaceous period.
