NEW YORK, NY.- Christie’s series of Fall Classics sales featuring Antiquities, Old Masters and 19th Century European Art, will present the classical masters of Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Near Eastern and European art with previews beginning October 19 at Rockefeller Center. The sales feature a selection of works from distinguished private collections and institutions, many of which will be offered for the first time at auction, and are unified by their timeless appeal.

ANTIQUITIES | October 25 at 10am
This upcoming auction features 164 artworks from the ancient Greek, Roman, Egyptian, European and Near Eastern worlds. Highlights include two important Egyptian mummy portraits recently restituted to the heirs of Rudolf Mosse, a life-sized 1st century A.D. Roman marble Athena, a 4th century B.C. Greek gold wreath and a Greek bronze Corinthian helmet with a striking powder blue patina. Strong private collections on offer include ancient Eastern Mediterranean and Roman glass from the John F. Fort Collection and Egyptian stone vessels from the Rudolf Schmidt Collection. The sale will also offer 24 works from the Property from The Toledo Museum of Art, sold to benefit the acquisitions fund, and an online auction of an additional 43 works from the Museum with accessible price points starting at $1,000.

OLD MASTERS | October 26 at 10am
The Old Masters sale is led by The Collection of Everett Fahy with 46 lots of attractively-estimated paintings, drawings, sculpture and more from the former Director of the Frick Collection and the John Pope-Hennessy Chairman of European Paintings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Other sale highlights include fresh-to-the-market works by renowned artists such as Jean-Honoré Fragonard, Ferdinand Bol, Ippolito Caffi, Jan Brueghel I and Sir Anthony van Dyck, as well as two wings of an altarpiece by the Master of the Legend of Saint Mary Magdalene, sold by the Newark Museum of Art to benefit the acquisitions fund.

19TH CENTURY EUROPEAN ART | October 26 at 2pm
The 19th Century European Art sale features paintings, pastels, drawings and sculptures from one of the most diverse and innovative categories of art. The sale is led by an important work by William Adolphe Bouguereau and a striking pastel of the glamorous Consuelo Vanderbilt, Duchess of Marlborough, by Paul César Helleu. A selection of works from artists of the Barbizon School are offered, such as two paintings by Gustave Courbet and a work on paper by Jean Francois Millet, as well as two works by Jean Baptiste Corot which were once in the collections of fellow artists André Derrain and Hendrick Willem Mesdag. British artists John Atkinson Grimshaw, John William Godward and Sir Alfred James Munnings round out the sale.
