VERO BEACH, FL.- On behalf of Vero Beach Museum of Art’s Board of Trustees, Chair Sandra Rolf announced today that it has selected Mr. Brady Roberts as the Museum’s new Executive Director/ CEO. Mr. Roberts has been Chief Curator at the Milwaukee Art Museum since 2009, leading a Curatorial Department of more than thirty-one employees. He led a master planning initiative for the re-installation of the Museum’s collections; played a key role with the Director and Director of Development for a successful $34 million capital campaign, and worked with the Director and board on strategic planning and governance issues.

Roberts was selected following an intensive six month national search from a field of more than a dozen candidates provided through the search firm, Management Consultants for the Arts. He will assume his position on December 5, 2016.

In recommending that the Board extend him an offer, the Search Committee was very impressed with Robert’s accomplishments over his 25 year museum career and the pivotal role he played at the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Board Chair Rolf, commented, “Brady brings considerable curatorial and senior leadership experience to his new role, as well as a depth of knowledge in Art History and a solid background in collection development and research.” Board Treasurer Bernard Kastory stated, “I feel confident that we have found a strong candidate who has the skills, experience and personal characteristics to fit well with our organization culture, all the stakeholders of the museum and the Vero community.  Based on his past track record and my personal discussions with him, I feel he has the potential to be a strong and effective leader, manager, spokesperson and advocate for the Museum and lead us to continued success in the future.”

Over the course of his 25 year museum career, Mr. Roberts has been involved with a number of museum building projects, has organized dozens of exhibitions including the ground-breaking Grant Wood: An American Master Revealed, and Constructing New Berlin, in addition to many solo exhibitions.

Prior to his position in Milwaukee, Roberts served as Curator of a contemporary art space in Santa Fe, New Mexico; Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Phoenix Art Museum from 2001-2006; Executive Director of the Dubuque Museum of Art from 1997-1999, and from 1989 – 1997, he served as the Curator of Collections and Exhibitions of the Davenport Museum of Art (currently the Figge Art Museum).

Roberts earned his BA in Art History from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and a MA in Art History from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Brady Roberts succeeds Dr. Lucinda H. Gedeon Ph.D., who is retiring after 12 years at the helm of the Museum.
