NEW YORK, NY.- The Art Dealers Association of America announced the exhibitors and highlights for its 29th annual edition of The Art Show, the nation’s most respected and longest-running fine art fair. Held annually in New York at the Park Avenue Armory, the 2017 edition will take place on March 1-5, 2017, with a Gala Preview on February 28, to benefit the Henry Street Settlement. Organized by the ADAA, a nonprofit membership organization of art dealers across the country, The Art Show offers collectors, art professionals, and the public the opportunity to engage with artworks of the highest quality through thoughtfully curated presentations that encourage close looking and active conversation with the nation’s leading art gallerists.

Each year, ADAA members wishing to participate submit proposals that outline inventive curatorial concepts for single artist, dual, or group exhibitions – a process which ensures the highest standard of artistic quality and connoisseurship that has become synonymous with the fair. For the 2017 edition, ADAA’s Art Show Committee selected 72 proposals from over 100 submissions from member galleries, providing audiences with a diverse selection of works from the late 19th century through today, by artists of a variety of genres, practices, and national and international origin – representing the full breadth and depth of the Association’s art expertise. The 2017 show will include a number of first-time exhibitors, including Fergus McCaffrey, James Fuentes Gallery, Hosfelt Gallery, and Casey Kaplan Gallery, and longtime ADAA members who are newly returning to the fair, including Paula Cooper Gallery and Gavin Brown’s enterprise.

For the 2017 edition, ADAA members will present a wide range of solo exhibitions highlighting artists from around the world, including presentations that offer new insights on established and influential artists, such as Abstract Expressionist Norman Lewis, whose paintings will be presented by Michael Rosenfeld Gallery; leading Minimalist Josef Albers, whose paintings and drawings on paper will be presented by David Zwirner; and Post-Impressionist Édouard Vuillard, whose paintings and works on paper will be presented by Jill Newhouse Gallery. Thomas Colville Fine Art will also feature the first historical survey in decades for American landscape painter George Inness. Other notable solo exhibitions explore significant artists working today, such as Salon 94’s presentation of new works by MoMA-honored Pakistani sculptor Huma Bhabha, and the first four-decade survey of Joyce Pensato’s work, presented by Petzel Gallery.

This year’s fair also includes a number of notable surveys of Latin American and Mexican artists, including two exhibitions spanning more than 40 years of work by Argentinian artist Liliana Porter, presented by Hosfelt Gallery, and by Cuban artist Zilia Sanchez, presented by Galerie Lelong. CRG Gallery will present a solo exhibition of works by Brazilian artist Alexandre da Cunha, and Alexander Gray Associates will present works created collaboratively by German-born Uruguayan artist Luis Camnitzer and The New York Graphic Workshop. Mary-Anne Martin Fine Art, noted for its Latin American art program, will celebrate the gallery’s 35th anniversary with selections from modern Mexican painter Rufino Tamayo, 20th-century Abstract Expressionist and Surrealist Roberto Matta, Afro-Cuban painter Wifredo Lam, and Uruguayan-Catalan Modernist Joaquín Torres García.
