MEXICO CITY.- Morton Subastas presents Modernidad Eterna, a special auction to be held in our Salón Moliere on November 12th 2016 at 11 am. This auction includes a unique selection of 305 lots of modern furniture and applied arts.
This auction brings together some of the most recognized designers of the 20th century in Mexico and abroad. Names like Gustavo Pérez, Arturo Pani, Eugenio Escudero, Gaetano Sciolari, Eero Saarinen, Michael Van Beuren, Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, Florence Knoll, Frank Kyle and Don S. Shoemaker head our list. Exhibition will be opened to the public from November 7th to November 11th in Prolongación Moliere 515, Colonia Ampliación Granada, Mexico City.
Each of the lots involves a distinctive sense of comfort and good taste. These are pieces not only to be possessed but to feel them and appreciate them.
Morton Subastas will present creations of the outstanding architect, entrepreneur, furniture and interior designer Florence Knoll, best known for her prestigious company Knoll Associates, which was founded with her husband Hans Knoll in 1943; since then, she has been known worldwide for her stylish and geometric designs influenced by Le Corbusier. An example of this excellent and distinguished craft is the wall credenza model 121 (Lots 56-59).
Other highlights correspond to the notable Mexican designer Arturo Pani. He was known during the decades of the 60´s and 70´s as the decorator of the Mexican elite. This auction brings Pani´s more prestigious forms. He appropriates materials, such as iron, glass, mirrors and bronze, to create furniture that involves design, dynamism, durability, but above all, elegance.
With an excellent manufacture that guaranteed durability, all the designs of this auction guide us to a very broad range of exciting styles of chairs, tables, lamps, and sofas that were created by innovative and risky designers that bet for something that will never go out of style: exclusivity.
