The departments seasonal sale of Fine Books & Manuscripts is representative of the eclectic mix of property that will be auctioned this December. From traditional offerings, like Johann Fust and Peter Schoeffers 1459 Edition of Guillelmus Duranduss Rationale Divinorum Officiorum (estimate $350/450,000) to special works, like an unpublished Original Watercolor for the Character of the "Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupery (estimate $70/100,000), the sale is a treasure trove for those with a penchant for books and manuscripts.
BOO-HOORAY PRESENTS: POST-WAR, COUNTERCULTURE & POP

In collaboration with Boo-Hooray, an exhibition space curated by Johan Kugelberg dedicated to 20th and 21st century cultural movements, Post-War, Counterculture & Pop is one of two onlineonly sales presented by the department this December. With documents from the revolutionary May 68 protests, early New York hip hop and concrete poets, as well as science fiction stories by Phillip K. Dick (estimate $400/600), the selection brings together influential movements from the last two centuries.

While Boo-Hooray celebrates counter-culture, Icons of Childrens Illustrations harks back to some of the most celebrated, and cherished, childhood memories. Walt Disneys Mickey and Minnie Mouse make an appearance in this online-only sale, as do Ludwig Bemelmanss Madeline and Maurice Sendaks Wild Things, such as in Hooray For Happy Birthdays In Spring And Summer! (estimate $300/500,000). To say that the sale is walk down memory lane accompanied by characters from some of the best childrens stories is no exaggeration.
