COPENHAGEN.- The Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek Board of Directors has appointed Christine Buhl Andersen as Director of the Glyptotek in Copenhagen. Christine Buhl Andersen will take up the post of Museum Director on 1st March 2017 and will thus leave the post of Director of KØS – The Danish Museum of Art in the Public Space.

Christine has displayed initiative and innovative thinking, not least in her impressive revitalising of the museum in Køge. In other words Christine is the ideal candidate for the Glyptotek and the Board looks forward to a fruitful working relationship.”

I cannot imagine a more challenging and responsible task than, together with the museum staff, revealing the riches of the Glyptotek even further to the world and thus continuing the unfolding of Carl Jacobsen’s original vision.”

Christine Buhl Andersen (born 1967) holds the Danish qualification of Cand.Mag. in Danish and Art History She also has an M.A. in Museology and has most recently completed a museum leadership training at The Getty Leadership Institute in California. Since 2007 she has been Director of KØS – The Museum of Art in the Public Space. Christine Buhl Andersen began her museum career in 1995 as researcher in art history and personal assistant to Knud W. Jensen at the Danish modern art museum, Louisiana, in Humlebæk. There followed posts as Museum Director at Kunstforeningen (The Copenhagen Art Society) at Gl. Strand in Copenhagen and Sorø Art Museum, and from 2005, up to her appointment at KØS, she worked as international academic advisor for the Danish Arts Council.

Parallel with these appointments, Christine Buhl Andersen has taken on various consultative activities, and has likewise served in a number of highly responsible managerial posts and positions of trust, such as Chairperson of the Committee for International Visual Arts at the Danish Arts Foundation (2007-11) as well as chairing the Organisation of Danish Museums (2011-15). In 2015 she joined the board of the Ny Carlsberg Foundation – a post she relinquished on her application for the position of Director of the Glyptotek.

Christine Buhl Andersen takes up the post of Director of the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek on 1st March, 2017.
