LONDON.- London Art Fair has announced that British photographic artist Hannah Farrell, presented by PAPER (Stand P6), has been awarded the £2,500 DeLonghi Art Projects Artist Award.
Hannah Farrells work that brings attention to the photograph as a sculptural object by exploring materiality within and surrounding the photographic surface. Rooted in experiences of place and self-enquiry, her process prompts questions surrounding gender, the human figure, physical experiences of landscape and tensions between freedom and entrapment.
The judges described Hannah Farrells work as an interesting and topical exploration of working-class masculinity and were impressed by the works production and execution. Hannah Farrell (b.1990) is a photographic artist that lives and works in Manchester, UK. She received a First Class Honours degree from Blackpool and the Fylde College in 2014 and has gone on to be featured in publications including the Catlin Guide 2015, Wallpaper* and The British Journal of Photography. She recently showed alongside Margaret Harrison in Castlefield Gallery's 'Superior Goods and Household Gods' and has led talks and workshops at the Victoria and Albert Museum and Manchester School of Art.

The judging panel for the DeLonghi Art Projects Artist Award was carefully selected to include key art world figures from the areas of collecting, curating and education. The panel selected the winning artist on the merit of their art practice and work on display at the Fair. The judges were:

The Art Projects section, now in its thirteenth year, has established itself as an important international platform for galleries to present the most stimulating contemporary practice. It features large-scale installations, solo shows and group displays, alongside a screening and performance programme.
Curated by Miguel Amado, Dialogues returns to Art Projects at London Art Fair 2017, following three highly successful editions. Amado is Senior Curator at Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, England. He was the curator of the Portuguese Pavilion at the 2013 Venice Biennale and has been a curator at Tate St Ives, England, and the Centro de Artes Visuais in Coimbra, Portugal, among other institutions.
