Fine art, modern design and Scandinavian furniture take center stage in Rago sale

LAMBERTVILLE, NJ.- Friday, April 7 through Saturday, April 8, Rago Arts and Auction Center will hold unreserved auctions of Early 20th C. Art and Design, Modern Art and Design and Scandinavian Furniture.

"Our upcoming Unreserved Auction promises to be a large and varied sale packed with interesting and unique treasures," says Michael Inghman, Director of Rago's Unreserved Department. "On offer will be property ranging across all of Rago's auction departments, from the 18th century through contemporary designs."

Unreserved Early 20th C., Fine Art, Estates Goods + Scandinavian: Friday, April 7 at 9 a.m., 707 lots
Early 20th century American and European art pottery and ceramics by Merrimac, Saturday Evening Girls, Rookwood, Ernst Wahliss, Paul Daschel and Zsolnay. Early 20th century furniture by Gustav and L. & J.G. Stickley and Roycroft,as well as a selection of Arts and Crafts style furnishings. Arts and Crafts lighting by Handel, Tiffany, Loetz and more. Early 20th century European and American glass by Charles Schneider, Legras, DeVez and Steuben. Collection of European, Asian and American lighters by Ronson, Cartier, Tiffany, Dunhill, Colibri, McMurdo as well as many novelty and figural forms. Items in silver and silver plate by Tiffany, Gorham, Samuel Kirk, Lazarus Posen, Jugendstil and Georg Jensen, as well as a collection of souvenir and commemorative spoons. American and European works of fine art by Norman Rockwell, Robert Brackman, Linda le Kinff with Zamy Steynovitz, Henry Jarvis Peck, Andre Dunoyer de Segonzac and Jeanne Lourier. The day’s auction ends with a nice collection of Blenko Glass as well as Danish Modern and Scandinavian furnishings and designs by Peter Hvidt, Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen, Arne Jacobsen, Fritz Hansen, Just Andersen, Jens Risom, Alvar Aalto and Abel Sorenson.

Unreserved Modern Design + Post War & Contemporary Art: Saturday, April 8 at 9 a.m., 747 lots
Modern furnishings by Charles and Ray Eames, Florence Knoll, Mies Van Der Rohe, Eero Saarinen, Hans Bellman, Harry Bertoia, Philippe Starck, Milo Baughman, Ron Seff, Adrian Pearsall and a nice selection of Massimo Iosa Ghini dining chairs from the Dynamic Collection. Lighting by Pierre Cardin, Laurel Lamp Co., Robert Sonneman, Koch & Lowy, Lightolier and Stilnovo, to name a few. Post War & Contemporary Art by Damien Hirst, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Thomas Hirschhorn, prints by Nikki Lee and Vanessa Beecroft, Vladislav Ratner, Victor Vasarely and Frederic Karoly. Sculptures by C. Jere, James Bearden, Emile Gilioli, Robert Cooke and an endearing “Sponti” sculpture by Ottmar Hörl. Lastly, the day will finish off with ceramics and art glass by Edwin and Mary Scheier, Otto and Vivika Heino, Ka-Kwong Hui, Bennett Bean, Thomas Hoadley, Picasso for Madoura, Fratelli Toso, Venini, Murano, Gio Ponti and Carlo Scarpa.
