Antiques, art and exquisite objects take center stage at the 2017 Newport Antiques Show
Although the event is months away, plans are set to expand the Newport Antiques Show’s remarkable roster of dealers of fine arts and antiques.

NEWPORT, RI.- The Newport Antiques Show is a staple of Newport’s summer season and a mecca for collectors with its luxurious atmosphere and sophisticated style. When doors open this July, the Show will celebrate its 11th year with an updated program and new associated activities while visitors discover antiques, art, jewelry, vintage fine accessories and photographs in one convenient venue.

Although the event is months away, plans are set to expand the Newport Antiques Show’s remarkable roster of dealers of fine arts and antiques. Several new dealers of traditional antiques, such as Jessie Davis from London and Robert Lloyd of New York will join the incredible team of returning exhibitors. A total of four dealers of vintage and antique jewelry will attend—Three Golden Apples, Reh Fine Jewelry, David Rovinsky Fine Jewelry and Sue Brown—as well as Only Authentics, a dealer of vintage handbags. Also new this year, Jessica Hagen Fine Art & Design will feature the photographs of Elliott Landy, the official photographer of Woodstock in 1969 who captured American rock musicians as well as the iconic anti-war demonstrations of the 1960s, along with neo-expressionist artist Hunt Slonem.

The Newport Antiques Show takes place at the St. George’s School Ice Rink, 375 Purgatory Road, Middletown, RI, July 28-30, 2017; doors open at 10am. The Show will uphold its reputation for “luxury and leisure” (Antiques & The Arts Weekly) with the opening night Gala Preview Party on July 27, 2017 from 6pm-9pm.

The Newport Antiques Show will continue to have an educational component. Select dealers will present booth talks on their work and offerings on Saturday morning. Admission to the booth talks is included in the cost of the weekend admission ticket. Additionally, John Tschirch, the Newport Historical Society’s Visiting Curator of Urban History, will exhibit selections from his Mapping the Newport Experience project which illustrates a visual timeline for urban development in Newport using maps, photographs and written descriptions.

As the main fundraiser for its two beneficiaries, the Newport Historical Society and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County, the Newport Antiques Show has raised a cumulative total of $2M supporting the city’s distinguished past and its historic future. “The Show has grown in scope and splendor each year since 2007,” explains Ruth Taylor Executive Director of the Newport Historical Society. “From neoclassical furniture to classic rock, early Americana to 19th century landscape paintings, anyone interested in antiques, art and exquisite objects shouldn’t miss this annual event.”
