KNOKKE-HEIST.- Why does the art exhibition from this year look so much younger, fresher and more contemporary? Its because not only does the art world and the art market look completely different, but also do the interiors of collectors and visitors. Here and there youll notice something old, but still in the context of the Wunderkammer-perception (Cabinets of curiosities), as contemporary interiors with an art room allure are currently in. Everyone is now seeking an eclectic mix and match of objects and artworks ranging from Street Art to photography as well as vintage and artisan design.
Street Art & co
Organizers are therefore giving
Art Nocturne an entirely new profile with much more art, design and original creations on an international level. For example, think of Jean Koumy Street Art (Atelier Borabeau Art Gallery) or Unga Munga and Driving Mini (Artstudio Pim Smit) or even the Strip Art collection by Tardioli-Van Neyghen & Van Houte. For instance, The Galerie Mathieu, also brings to the Knokke the work of the legendary Japanese avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama, worshipped all over the world: really top notch! The Michelangelo Buonarroti Galleries show pure design with the Progetti collection of Giorgetti.
Design Pavilion
In addition to the dozens of participating art dealers and galleries, Art Nocturne also features a sophisticated Design Pavilion of the well-known curator Johan Valcke. Indeed, the event cannot only have a revival of glass, ceramics and jewellery artisan design in the country alone. This treasure room fits perfectly into the Wunderkammer (Cabinets of curiosities) story and allows us to view gorgeous objects of young artists such as Sylvie Vandenhoucke or Elisabeth Leenknegt who have made it internationally. The Valcke kunstkamer (art chamber) is one of the highlights. Please note: this is not a museum initiative; you can acquire these art pieces.
Young Collectors Room
Like icing on the cake, there is also the Young Collection Room in which all participants bring together a sales collection for a younger audience with a budget below 4000 Euro. This also applies from objects to artworks, as well as from photography to visual arts. In short, this is a unique offer.
Mix
Several years ago, the famous auction of the YSL collection completely changed our taste. The collectors became eclectic in a short period of time and turned to old and new items, combining antiques and vintage with more wall artwork. Antiquities are now collected and displayed as eye catchers in a refreshing contemporary context and in particular as collectors item. For example, you can place a precious vase of Daum of Gallé next to an armchair by Charlotte Perriand, Le Corbusier or even Marcel Wanders.
Art Nocturne Knocke, from 5 up to 15 August, daily from 16:00 to 21:00 at CC Scharpoord in Knokke-Heist.
