NEW YORK, NY.- A fine selection of prints and multiples from the 17th through the 21st centuries will be offered in Doyle’s auction of Prints & Multiples on Wednesday, November 1 at 10am.

European prints are highlighted by Joan Miró’s Constellations portfolio, the complete set of two signed and numbered color lithographs and 22 color pochoir reproductions after gouaches by the artist, 1959 (est. $50,000-70,000) and Man Ray’s iconic Les Amoureux, A L’heure de L’observatoire, color lithograph, 1970, which depicts the monumental floating lips of Lee Miller, the artist’s photography assistant and lover (est. $20,000-30,000). Also featured are several works by and after Sonia Delaunay-Terk, including color lithographs and a monumental hand-woven tapestry, Automne (est. $20,000-30,000).

Prints by Marc Chagall are highlighted by Le Verger (The Orchard), color lithograph, 1961, from one of his most important series, Daphnis and Chloé. Offerings by Jean Dubuffet include one of his most sought-after color lithographs, Personnage au Chapeau, 1962 (est. $8,000-12,000). Kees van Dongen is well-represented by several lithographs, including Le Coquelicot, (The Corn Poppy), a color lithograph after his 1919 oil painting (est. $10,000-15,000).

Prints and ceramics by Pablo Picasso include Fumeur a la Cigarette Verte, color aquatint, 1964 (est. $15,000-20,000) and Trois Poissons sur Fond Gris, painted white ceramic plate, 1957 (est. $7,000-10,000).

American prints feature lithographs by Stuart Davis, including several with Parisian themes, such as Theatre on the Beach, 1931 (est. $10,000-15,000), which depicts a large figure at the Place Dancourt and the façade of the Theatre de Montmartre. Also included are three etchings by Winslow Homer, Eight Bells, Mending the Tears and Perils of the Sea, 1887-88, printed by Charles S. White in 1941 (est. range $3,000-6,000), and several lithographs by Thomas Hart Benton.

Contemporary prints feature iconic works by many of the most sought-after artists, including Wayne Thiebaud, Slice of Pie, etching, 1962; Jasper Johns, 0-9, etching and aquatint, 1975 (est. $8,000-12,000; Richard Diebenkorn, Black Club, etching, aquatint and drypoint, 1981 (est. $8,000-10,000); Robert Motherwell, Redness of Red, color lithograph, screenprint and collage, 1985 (est. $10,000-15,000); Roy Lichtenstein, Les Nympheas, color linocut, woodcut, lithograph and screenprint, 1993, inspired by Claude Monet’s water lily paintings (est. $20,000-30,000). There are also several works by Andy Warhol, including Kachina Dolls, color screenprint, 1986 (est. $15,000-20,000), and a monumental linocut on canvas by the South African artist William Kentridge, Walking Man, 2000 (est. $20,000-30,000).

This sale also features a selection of works by 20th century British artists, including Bridget Riley, Fragment 3, screenprint on Plexiglas, 1965 (est. $12,000-18,000); David Hockney, Pool Made with Paper and Blue Ink for Book, color lithograph with the accompanying book, 1980 (est. $6,000-9,000) and prints by Patrick Caulfield, Elisabeth Frink, Patrick Heron and Howard Hodgkin.
