HONG KONG.- Sotheby’s announced the appointments of Lisa Chow as Deputy Chairman, Jewellery, Asia and of Jessica Wyndham as Head of Department, Jewellery, Asia. Together, Ms. Chow and Ms. Wyndham possess nearly four decades of jewellery and auction experience as well as extensive relationships with clients and dealers worldwide. Building on her most recent position as SOTHEBY’S DIAMONDS’ General Manager and Sales Director, Asia, Ms. Chow will focus on providing strategic guidance and building client relationships for Sotheby’s jewellery auctions in Asia, while continuing to lead SOTHEBY’S DIAMONDS in Asia. Ms. Wyndham will assume responsibility for managing Sotheby’s Jewellery department in Asia, including business getting, selling strategies and operations. Both will be based in Hong Kong.

Patti Wong, Chairman, Sotheby’s Asia and Sotheby’s Diamonds, comments, “We welcome two talented colleagues with immense experience into these critical roles for us in Asia. The market for jewellery, auctions and private sales, are significant growth areas we are focusing on. With Laurence Nicolas joining us as Executive Vice President, Global Managing Director, Sotheby’s Jewellery and Watches, and our colleague Quek Chin Yeow, Chairman of International Jewellery, Asia, we look forward to enhancing our expertise and sourcing capabilities in the region.”

“It is with great pleasure that we welcome Lisa and Jessica to these two strategic roles in Sotheby’s Asia,” says Kevin Ching, Chief Executive Officer, Sotheby’s Asia. “We trust that their passion, insight and outstanding track record in the field will bring added strength to the Asian team, as we continue to expand our client base and consolidate our position in this fast-growing market. The Hong Kong Jewellery department will benefit immensely from Lisa’s private sale connections and experience, as well as from Jessica’s international background in this industry.”

Ms. Chow began her career at Sotheby’s Hong Kong in 1990. She joined the Jewellery department in 1995 as a member of the launch team for the first Western Jewellery Sale in Hong Kong, which established the city as an international jewellery hub. In 2006, Ms. Chow became a core member of SOTHEBY’S DIAMONDS and was instrumental in introducing SOTHEBY’S DIAMONDS in mainland China, Taiwan and Singapore.

Ms. Wyndham joined Sotheby’s London in 2010 and became Head of Jewellery, London, in 2017. She played a key role in many successful auctions, including the sale of two important private collections in 2012: Suzanne Belperron, one of the most highly notable female jewellery designers of the 20th century, and Michael Wellby, the renowned silver dealer.

Sotheby’s led the global auction market for jewellery in 2017 with worldwide sales totalling US$551.3 million. Sotheby’s has sold 4 of the 5 most expensive jewels ever offered at auction, including ‘The CTF Pink Star’ sold in Hong Kong for US$71.2 Million in 2017, which holds the ‘World Auction Record for Any Diamond or Gemstone.’

The next Jewellery sale will take place on 3 April, as part of Sotheby’s Hong Kong Spring Auction Series.
