THESSALONIKI .- Polyeco Contemporary Art Initiative collaborates with the Thessaloniki Contemporary Art Center of the State Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki, co-organizing the exhibition "Resilient Futures". An exhibition focusing on the concept of durability that brings together the ports of Piraeus and of Thessaloniki; two of the most important ports of our country have been united through contemporary art in a symbolic manner.

From June 5th to September 23rd 2018, the two cities are bridged together on the occasion of a unique venture dedicated to video art and environmental awareness, through works of prominent international artists.

In regards to resilience, we refer to the means and strategies by which people, communities and institutions adapt to changing circumstances and seek imaginative ways to survive and cope with the consequences of natural and man-made disruptions and to support weak populations.

As a concept, resilience refers primarily to the principles of flexibility, inclusiveness, consistency and robustness, that is to say, the values on which a city must invest in order to enhance the sense of belonging amongst its citizens and of joint responsibility in managing the public sphere and to ensure its future sustainability.

Syrago Tsiara states about the exhibition: "How do visual artists visualize the future of the planet, and how do they critisize people's relationships in regards to nature, economic systems, development policies and natural resources exploitation and public space? The Thessaloniki Contemporary Art Center of the State Museum of Contemporary Art organizes an international exhibition of contemporary art in collaboration with Polyeco Contemporary Art Initiative (PCAI), bringing together artists of different origins, expressing mainly through video art, and directly or suggestively, refer to urban, environmental and social resilience and sustainability."

A bilingual catalogue (Greek-English) published by CACT Editions in collaboration with PCAI accompanies the show.
