LONDON.- Iwan Wirth, Manuela Wirth, and Marc Payot, Partners of Hauser & Wirth, today announced the appointment of Liberté Nuti as International Senior Director Impressionist & Modern, based in London. Formerly the International Director of Impressionist & Modern at Christie’s auction house, Nuti will join Hauser & Wirth in October 2018. She will focus upon further strategic expansion of the gallery’s secondary market private sales activity and will be an advisor to the gallery’s 26 artist estates.

Nuti served at Christie’s for over two decades, most recently at the helm of the firm’s Impressionist and Modern art department internationally. She was instrumental in establishing the auction house’s private sales Modern art division and over the past five years has steered its continued expansion through the implementation of international exhibitions across Europe, the US and Asia, the creation of strategic partnerships in the field, and development of initiatives with living artists and estates.

Building upon Hauser & Wirth’s extensive experience with 20th-century modern masters, Nuti will deepen the gallery’s existing relationships with collectors, foster relationships with new clients and artists’ estates, and apply her expertise and prodigious knowledge of the market to the development of special projects with the gallery.

‘We are thrilled to welcome Liberté Nuti as a Senior Director in London,’ said Iwan Wirth. ‘For almost 30 years, we have presented rare and extraordinary 20th-century modern masterworks to the marketplace alongside outstanding contemporary art. We look forward to this next chapter in Hauser & Wirth’s evolution as the gallery’s secondary market activity comes into sharper focus. Liberté brings a fresh eye to this area of our business and we are planning a series of new creative initiatives with her.’

Wirth added, ‘As custodians of some of the world’s most important private collections, we are eager to work with Liberté to expand our advisory and other services to collectors. She will also work at a senior level to help nurture and advise our many Estates on navigating the complexities of the secondary market.’

Liberté Nuti says: ‘I have always admired Hauser & Wirth’s pool of artists, and found inspiration in the gallery’s creative spirit and passion for pioneering models for what a contemporary art gallery can do and be, for placing contemporary art within a historical framework through peerless exhibitions, their extensive education programme, and important research and publications. I am excited by this new challenge and look forward to developing Hauser & Wirth’s vision and love of the avant-garde which is so visible in their exhibition history. I am thrilled to work closely with the gallery’s Partners Iwan and Manuela Wirth, and Marc Payot, on new initiatives of international scope.’
