NEW YORK, NY.- ART 2030 announced the inaugural annual edition of ART 2030 New York, a city-wide initiative connecting contemporary art and the Global Goals, timed to coincide with the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly. The inaugural edition of ART 2030 New York will feature a series of public programs that align in concept and in topic with the 17 Global Goals established by the United Nations in 2015, including specially-commissioned artworks and curated gallery events, panel discussions and exhibition openings, taking place from September 24-28, 2018 at various locations throughout New York City.

The 17 Global Goals were established by the United Nations as an international commitment from its partners to collectively work together to end poverty and hunger, fight inequality, stop climate change, and to provide quality education, clean water and affordable housing, amongst other important goals, to all the world’s people by 2030.

ART 2030, the organization behind ART 2030 New York, brings together the universal power of contemporary art and the collective voices of the global arts community in support of these goals and provides a unique platform in which the general public can engage with the most important issues of our time through thoughtful programming, related exhibitions and newly commissioned public installations.

“Art has the ability to fuel dreams, slow down time, and illuminate complexity. It gives us access to the inaccessible, and the opportunity to embrace the unknown. Art provides a space to reflect on our world, but also to re-imagine a different one, and at a fundamental level, art is an expression of what it means to be human, and illustrates the human experience,” says Luise Faurschou, Founder and Director of ART 2030.

Renowned artist Danh Vo, is one of ART 2030’s many supporters. “Art makes us connect to people and places that are far from us and transcends languages and borders – ultimately generating empathy for others. This is why I support ART 2030,” says Vo.

Starting on Monday, September 24, ART 2030 New York will present the public with an extensive program that unites local partners around art and the Global Goals. With a different focus every day, this year’s program will touch upon the urgent issues of Equality, Partnerships for the Goals, a Healthy Planet, and Quality Education. Throughout the week, partnering galleries within the Chelsea locale will participate by hosting late-exhibition openings for all, as well as panel discussions for RSVP. Altogether, the program celebrates the diverse voices of the art sector and beyond, coming together in the spirit of the Global Goals to work towards strong, shared future. The full program for ART 2030 New York will be announced in August.
