ASPEN, COLO.- Anderson Ranch Arts Centers largest community event, the 38th Annual Art Auction & Community Picnic, will feature more than 200 works of art available for bid in live and silent auctions. A highlight of the Aspen/Snowmass summer arts and culture scene, the event will take place on Saturday, August 4, from 11:00AM 3:00PM at Anderson Ranch. The Annual Art Auction is open to the public and will feature a fun-filled morning and afternoon of live music, childrens art activities, a picnic lunch and more as part of this art-infused experience.
Curated by Barbara Lee, the live auction portion of the event features works by top contemporary artists including Christo, Mark Dion, Carroll Dunham, Shepard Fairey, Brad Howe, Dashiell Manley and Trevor Paglen. Alexander Berggruen, Specialist and Head of the Day Sale, Afternoon Session in Post-War and Contemporary Art at Christies, will serve as auctioneer.
The 38th Annual Art Auction is a celebration of community, welcoming art makers and art lovers of all kinds to the Ranch, said Nancy Wilhelms, Executive Director of Anderson Ranch Arts Center. Most of the works in our auctions have Ranch rootsthey were either created here, were part of a body of work presented here, or made by artists with a connection here. All auction items is available for preview at Anderson Ranch from July 30 until August 3; live auction works are on view at the Ranchs Patton-Malott Gallery and the Curators Choice and silent auction works are on display at the Ranchs Wyly Painting Building.
