HONG KONG.- Sotheby’s Hong Kong Autumn 2018 auction series begins with three wine sales on 29-30 September, bringing to the market more than 1,700 lots estimated at HK$75-103 million (US$10-13 million).

Adam Bilbey, Head of Wine, Sotheby’s Asia, states, “Following a strong Hong Kong first-half totaling HK$294 million (US$37 million), we are thrilled to present another extraordinary sale series to continue this spectacular year for Sotheby’s Wine in Asia. We are offering two distinguished single-owner sales, The Towering Bordeaux Collection, and The Wonderful Cellar of an Important Asian Collector. The former brings a rare offering of Château Latour historic vintages with impeccable provenance, whereas the latter presents gems from Burgundy and Bordeaux amassed over a 20-year period. Also not to be missed, Finest and Rarest Wines will feature a huge cross-section of wines at a range of price points highlighted by a complete collection of Cheval Blanc 2010 in all formats, coupled with rare whiskies such as the showstopping The Macallan 50 Years Old, and for the first time ever at Sotheby’s, Kweichow Moutai.”

THE TOWERING BORDEAUX COLLECTION
Featuring Historic Vintages of Latour 10 am, 29 September

This collection is headlined by 56 lots of spectacularly rare Château Latour previously acquired at an auction that came direct from the cellars, including legendary vintages such as 1945, 1959, 1961 and 1982, and exceedingly rare vintages dating back to 1909. Also on offer are parcel lots of top class Bordeaux in great vintages, including Haut Brion 1982, Lafite 2003, Margaux 1996, Mouton 2005, Cheval Blanc 1988, as well as original wooden cases of Petrus from the 1980s to 2000.

THE WONDERFUL CELLAR OF AN IMPORTANT ASIAN COLLECTOR 1 pm, 29 September (Or Immediately after The Towering Bordeaux Collection)
Amassed over a 20-year period by an important Asian collector, this remarkable collection showcases the very best wines with significant quantities from France, including: nearly 50 lots from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti dating back to 1969; Bordeaux Left Bank First Growths in original wooden cases from the greatest vintages from the 1980s to 2000s; mature vintages such as 1945 Mouton Rothschild in bottle and magnum; Bordeaux Right Bank gems such as Petrus 1989 and 1990, and ultra-rare Le Pin 1982. Rare and mature Champagnes and new world highlights from Penfolds Grange and Joseph Phelps Insignia are also available.

FINEST AND RAREST WINES 10 am, 30 September
This various owners sale features the world’s most sought-after Burgundies, such as DRC Romanée-Conti 1990, Armand Rousseau from the 1990s, and a vertical of Leflaive Montrachet from 2001 to 2010. The sale also includes classic Bordeaux First Growths in such monumental vintages as 1959, 1982, 1990 and 2000; parcel lots of Lafite, Latour, Margaux and Mouton from the 1980s and 1990s; original wooden cases of Petrus 1982, 1989 and 1990; and a complete collection of Cheval Blanc 2010 in all formats from half bottles to an 18-litre Melchior.

Whisky highlights include The Macallan 50 Years Old direct from the distillery and The Dalmore Candela aged 50 Years, signed by Master Distiller Richard Peterson. Sotheby’s Wine will also feature Kweichow Moutai for the very first time, expanding our offer to the highly coveted Chinese liquor that is often served at important Chinese state banquets. The sale will feature Kweichow Moutai spanning three decades of meticulous collection from 1974 to 1996.
