PHILADELPHIA, PA.- Philadelphia Fine Art Fair announced it will debut its inaugural edition, open to the public April 4-7, 2019 at the famed 23rd Street City Troop Armory. PFAFs tightly curated show, with 35 respected galleries, representing 300 important artists, is dedicated to presenting significant modern and contemporary art, while celebrating the rich, cultural history of Philadelphia.
Rick Friedman, Executive Director of PFAF says, Philadelphia is a longtime culturally driven city in the creation, exploration and patronage of the visual arts. With its 6 million area residents, there is a sizable, fast growing collector base. Coupled with a considerable number of serious art patrons and major collectors make for a ripe and untapped art fair marketplace.
PFAF will offer Philadelphia a unique opportunity for local audiences to experience high quality Modern and Contemporary Art directly presented by galleries in the US and internationally. As the fair continues to add additional exhibitors to its roster, select highlights of participating galleries include Arcadia Contemporary (USA), Bridgette Mayer Gallery (USA), Birch Contemporary (Canada), Galerie Isabelle Lesmeister (Germany), The Hunt Gallery (UK), Louis K Meisel Gallery (USA) and Cernuda Arte (USA).
Located at The 23rd Street City Troop Armory, erected in 1901, the Armory houses the First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry, the oldest cavalry unit in continuous service in the United States. The history and layout of this space provides an ideal location for the inaugural PFAF event.
Produced by Show Hamptons and run by Friedman, who is known for bringing luxury, regional fairs to underserved markets, PFAF comes off of the success of his previous shows: Art Hamptons, Silicon Valley Contemporary, Palm Springs Fine Art Fair and Art Aspen, among others. Show Hamptons will also be producing Jackson Hole Fine Art Fair, premiering in September 2019. PFAF was created with Philadelphias art world and clientele in mind. With its world class museums, emerging gallery scene, and passion for street and public art, PFAF is thrilled to bring this extraordinary fine art fair to the residents of Philadelphia.
