MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA: Paintings conservator Vanessa Kowalski (R) inspects Melbourne's most famous painting "Chloe" which has been restored to its place in the Young and Jackson Hotel after being damaged when a patron fell against it, in Melbourne 13 October 2004. Painted by 19th century French artist Jules Joseph Lefebvre in 1875, Chloe was brought to Australia in 1879 where she created uproar when exhibited at a gallery and was withdrawn before finally being brought by local hotelier Henry Figsby Young. It is reported that the Maria, who was 19 when immortalised, later committed suicide with the reason given being unrequited love.
