The exhibition opened on Saturday, June 29th and continues through August 24th.

In this very unique Mixed Media group exhibition, curator Elizabeth Valdez challenged the wide array of multi-disciplinary and critically acclaimed artists, to create personal “Vision Boards.” Says Curator Valdez: “The impetus for this show comes out of a desire to understand what artists are envisioning in regard to the future, at this very unique moment in history.” “I consider visualization to be a powerful tool, and perhaps, a first step in heading towards change” continues Valdez.

Some questions this subject brings up are, what, at this moment, are we interested in changing? Are we still hopeful, or are our visions of the future “apocalyptic” in some ways? The beauty of this concept is that it can be so multifaceted, therefor appealing to many artists with diverse backgrounds and styles.

In choosing and contacting artists for this show, Ms. Valdez stressed that the artists were completely free to experiment; to either add to their existing body of work, or create something completely new, inspired solely by the theme. This theme can be as simple as a single color that inspires them, or as deep as they wished to delve into their psyche.

Elizabeth Valdez currently lives and works in Los Angeles. She received her BFA from Otis Institute of Art and Design, Los Angeles, and her MFA from Hunter College, NYC. Ms. Valdez’s artwork has been exhibited around the world, including at MAMCO-Geneva, Palais De Tokyo-Paris, Champion Fine Arts, NYC, and as far as Tbilisi, Georgia.
