Marketing Tips for Art Galleries

No matter how great your product is or how good your services are if you’re a business owner and have no marketing strategy then you’ll likely struggle for customers. Nowadays, you can find many websites that offer tips and tricks on marketing your business. For example, you can find a my bet tips section on a website that gives you a list of the best ranked betting websites or a website that offers 5 or 10 ways to improve the ambient in your hotel and even tips on how to improve your health and wellness. In short, the Internet has it all. One of the more specific businesses to market are art galleries.

They are special in that they don’t offer regular goods that you can just buy anywhere, they offer art. They offer an artist’s expression of creativity presented on a canvass, photograph, sculpture or any other medium the artist chooses. Although the general public may be impressed by one or two paintings an art savvy will know how to appreciate each painting at an exhibition.

It is important to have quality work in your gallery, but it’s also important to sell a few in order to keep your gallery running and that’s why it’s important to have a marketing strategy – so people can hear and see your venue, talk about it and visit it. So, here are a few tips to help you with marketing your art gallery:

Make a Website
As I mentioned before, the Internet is a source of infinite resources and many companies, great and small, have gone online. If you have an art gallery it’s a good idea to make a website about it. The website you build will make you look more professional. A broad audience will be able to see what’s currently on exhibition and see if any future events are coming up.

The website is a way to market your gallery 24/7 so literally anyone can visit it at any time. Furthermore, it will help you reach clients on a national and international level. When you make your website you can leave links to your profiles on social media and write content that’s appealing. You can add photos of past exhibitions or videos of it and even go live via Facebook.

Improve Your Ambience
Art galleries are the ones who are intimately connected to the phrase “Looks matter” and it’s clear why. A number of people won’t visit a gallery that’s closed off or doesn’t have windows through which you’ll see some painting that make you stop and stare with awe. What makes a gallery better is its ambience and to improve it you can add some music that adds to the atmosphere of the exhibition or paintings, and even throw in a few stimulating scents just to give a good impression to both newcomers and regulars.

Reach Out
This is a simple, but also a broad piece of advice. You see editorial cartoons which are thought provoking and sometimes sarcastic, on a newspaper or the news. Similarly you can create such a cartoon or image on popular events and send them to your local magazines and print works. If your art is attractive more people will visit your gallery.
